Isn't he just a sweetheart in this picture! It's so hard to believe he was once this small! So far Evan has enjoyed school but it's been a bit of an adjustment for him. He had a rough day on the Thursday of the first week but we put a sticker chart into place and he had a great day on the Friday. Then the dreaded second week came. Evan's teacher's mother passed away the beginning of that week and so she was out all week. Evan had a horrible week. I was shocked I was alive by the end of it. I was never so paranoid and worried about it. Anytime the phone would ring, I would get a panicked feeling figuring it was the school calling me to pick him up! He survived that week and was so happy this Monday when he saw his teacher was back. We said hello to her and she seemed so positive about getting back on track with his sticker chart that I couldn't help but be positive too. He's made it this week, last day, hopefully will also be good. He almost didn't make it yesterday because of a meltdown with a cutting project but he recovered and he's getting better and handling his frustration. His fine motor skills lack a bit but it's not anything we can't work on and I think he'll get there.
I'm so grateful for his teacher! She's been teaching kinder for many, many years and I feel like there was some divine inspiration for putting him in her class. I think she's just what he needs and I'm so grateful for her patience and love for him. I volunteered at the school quite frequently when he was a baby so there are many teachers and other workers who know who he is so I feel like there is a lot of people looking out for him, which helps tremendously. They all want to see him succeed and they can tell how smart he is. It seems like everyone knows when he has a good day, on Monday, we went through the back gate and the vice principal was there and told me he had a great day and that she really liked him. He has a personality that you can't help but love. I'm still looking forward to watching him grow and learn. Love that boy!
